Advocates meeting the following criteria may apply:
- Enrolled with any State Bar Council in India
- Possession of a valid Bar Registration Number
- Minimum professional experience as per Bar Council norms
- No history of professional misconduct or disciplinary action
- Willingness to follow Helpful Foundationโs Code of Conduct & Ethics
- Ability to provide timely, responsible, and client-centric legal support

Advocate Panel Membership โ Helpful Foundation
1. Who can apply to become a Panel Advocate?
Any advocate enrolled with a State Bar Council in India, holding a valid Bar Registration Number and following professional ethics, may apply for panel membership.
2. Is panel membership available across India?
Yes. Panel membership is pan-India. Case referrals are generally assigned based on location, subject expertise, and availability.
3. Is there any guarantee of cases after joining?
No. Helpful Foundation does not guarantee a fixed number of cases. Case referrals depend on demand, advocate expertise, and client requirements. Minimum referral ranges mentioned are indicative only.
4. Are the cases paid or pro-bono?
Cases may be paid, subsidized, or pro-bono, depending on the nature of the matter and client background. Fee terms, if applicable, are communicated separately for each case.
5. Is court appearance mandatory for panel advocates?
No. Court appearances are not mandatory. Advocates may accept or decline matters based on their availability and comfort.
6. Does Helpful Foundation act as an employer?
No. Panel advocates function as independent legal professionals. There is no employerโemployee, partnership, or agency relationship with Helpful Foundation.
7. What documents are required for verification?
Generally required documents include:
- Bar Council Enrollment Certificate
- Identity proof
- Practice details (experience / area of law)
- Any additional document requested during verification
8. Is the membership fee refundable?
No. All membership fees are non-refundable once paid.
9. What is the validity of the membership?
Membership is valid for 12 months from the date of activation and must be renewed annually.
10. Can I upgrade from General to Premium membership later?
Yes. Advocates may apply for an upgrade, subject to payment of the applicable difference and approval by the Foundation.
11. Will my name be publicly listed?
Yes. Panel advocates are listed in the Foundationโs Advocate Directory. Premium members receive priority/highlighted listings.
12. Can I decline a case referral?
Yes. Advocates are free to accept or decline any case without penalty.
13. Are drafting limits strict?
Yes. Drafting support is provided as per the annual limits mentioned in the membership plan.
14. What happens if I violate the Code of Conduct?
Violation of ethical or professional standards may result in:
- Warning
- Temporary suspension
- Termination of panel membership (without refund)
15. How long does the approval process take?
Verification and approval typically take 5โ10 working days, subject to document completeness.
