Types of Education Complaints in India

1. Admission & Access Complaints

  1. Denial of admission to children (especially under the 25% quota for EWS/BPL students in private schools as per RTE Act).
  2. Discrimination in admission on the basis of caste, gender, disability, religion, or economic status.
  3. Charging of capitation fee or donations illegally.

2. Quality of Education & School Facilities

  1. Non-availability of teachers or deployment of unqualified teachers.
  2. Lack of basic infrastructure: classrooms, drinking water, toilets, electricity.
  3. Denial of free textbooks, uniforms, or mid-day meals (under government schemes).
  4. Harassment or corporal punishment of students.

3. Discrimination & Harassment

  1. Caste-based or gender-based discrimination in schools/colleges.
  2. Bullying, ragging, or harassment of students.
  3. Sexual harassment of students (covered under POCSO Act and POSH Act where applicable).

4. Higher Education Complaints

  1. Denial of degree certificates or delay in results.
  2. Unfair practices in examinations and admissions.
  3. Malpractices by private colleges/universities.
  4. Non-refund of fees after withdrawal of admission.

5. Special Rights in Education

  1. Denial of education to children with disabilities (violates Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016).
  2. Non-implementation of inclusive education measures.
  3. Discrimination against LGBTQ+ students.
