Types of Communications Complaints in India

1. Telecom & Mobile Services

  1. Call drops, poor network coverage.
  2. Overcharging, hidden costs, wrongful billing.
  3. Fraudulent SIM activation or misuse of KYC.
  4. Unsolicited commercial calls/SMS (spam).
  5. Failure to provide promised data/speed packs.

2. Internet & Broadband Services

  1. Slow or interrupted internet services.
  2. Denial of refunds after service failures.
  3. Misleading advertisements of “unlimited data.”
  4. Blocking of legitimate websites or apps without notice.
  5. Data breaches or misuse of personal information by ISPs.

3. Postal & Courier Services

  1. Delay or loss of letters/parcels.
  2. Misdelivery or tampering of goods.
  3. Overcharging or hidden delivery charges.
  4. Poor grievance redressal by India Post or courier companies.

4. Broadcasting & Digital Media

  1. Excessive or hidden charges by DTH/cable operators.
  2. Poor-quality broadcasting or sudden service suspension.
  3. Violation of TRAI regulations by service providers.
  4. Non-delivery of subscribed channels/packs.

5. Cyber & Data Protection Issues

  1. Phishing, online frauds via telecom/internet misuse.
  2. Leakage of Aadhaar, banking, or personal data by service providers.
  3. Harassment through misuse of communication networks.
  4. Failure to comply with government rules on cyber safety.

  1. Consumers (mobile, internet, postal, TV subscribers).
  2. Businesses facing service disruptions affecting operations.
  3. Employees/Whistleblowers inside telecom or media companies.
  4. Helpful Foundation (acting on large-scale consumer rights violations).

  • TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) – telecom & broadcasting issues.
  • Department of Telecommunications (DoT) – mobile/internet operators.
  • Consumer Forums (District/State/National) – billing, service disputes.
  • India Post Grievance Cell / Courier Ombudsman.
